A Classification Approach for Identification of Glass using C4.5 algorithm

Dr Ali Mirza Mahmood

Abstract

Data Mining is a process of mining and extracting new information from a huge set of raw data. Classification is a data mining technique that is used to classify each item in a data set into one of the classes or groups. Decision Tree builds classification models into a tree like structure that provides a neat description about the whole dataset. In this paper, we are trying to extract hidden knowledge from the existing “GLASS” dataset. The aim of this paper is to determine whether the glass is float or non-float based on the refractive index and the composition of other metals. Results that are generated are very interesting and are also very useful for further research applicability.
