Utilising Google Assistant for Smart Home Technology

Nikhith S

Abstract

The main goal of this endeavour is to create a smart home technological system utilising an ESP8266 NodeMCU that can be voice operated by any mobile device running the Android operating system. Houses are becoming intelligent as technology advances.

The traditional switches in modern homes are rapidly giving way to centralised control systems with remote-controlled switches. Currently, it is challenging for the user to approach traditional wall controls that are dispersed throughout the home in order to activate them. The elderly or those with physical disabilities find it much harder to do so.

A current solution with smart phones is provided by remote-controlled smart home technology. In order to do this, a Google Assistant module is linked to the NodeMCU ESP8266 board at the receiver end, along with a GUI application running on a cell phone transmits voice instructions to turn on and off related loads at the receiver end. Through speech technology, the loads may be switched ON or OFF by speaking a specific voice command on the GUI.
