Abstract

The Mentorship site is a cyber-revolution that tries to unite college students with working professionals for personalized higher learning and career guidance. By providing access to mentors of various professions, the site ends the theory-versus-practice gap. Mentees (students) get the benefits of direct interaction with mentors who are able to provide personalized advice, enable goal realization, and comments based on personal working experience, with a better sense of what has to be done in the external environment.

Benefiting from the facilities of live communication such as video conferencing, messaging, and file-sharing, the platform helps in seamless collaboration between the mentees and mentors. The technology enables regular check-ins, monitoring of progress, and sharing of documents such as résumés or assignments to comment on. The mentors are able to monitor the mentees' progress over time and give guided feedback and encouragement. The tools for setting and tracking progress also enable the mentees' staying on track, setting achievable goals, and acquiring skills that will take them to success in the job market and academe.
