Survey of PAN Card Tracking Systems: Approaches for Monitoring and Securing Usage
Abstract
Permanent Account Number (PAN) card is an important identity document in India that is utilized extensively in financial transactions, tax deduction at source, and verification of identity. Given the growing concerns over misuse of PAN cards, counterfeiting, and other illegal uses, there is a need for robust tracking and monitoring systems for ensuring PAN card use. This article presents various PAN card tracking systems with special reference to the technologies and methods utilized to track, verify, and safeguard the use of PAN cards. It discusses innovations in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for automated data capturing, machine learning algorithms for detection of frauds, and blockchain- based decentralized ledgers for tamper-evident data storage. The integration of e-KYC and biometric authentication also enhances the system's reliability. Recent advancements in AI-driven automation and cloud portal-based platforms enhance real-time monitoring and usability, with multi-layer security frameworks providing greater security from identity theft. This literature survey combines existing techniques, their strengths and weaknesses, and their future research areas, contributing to the existing body of knowledge and building intricate PAN card usage tracking mechanisms that assimilate security threats and foster trust within the financial system.
