Abstract


The quest for an associate engine to extend mileage has started before a few years. Several automobile producing industries do a lot of analysis on a way to increase the mileage of the car. In today’s automobile competition each manufacturer is that specialize in a weight reduction of a car by considering this objective; this paper focuses on providing various material. The target of this work is to optimize weight reduction to extend the mileage of the car. Saving grams at totally different components in a very automobile helps US in saving some kilograms at the tip of the planning. The main focus of this paper is on weight reduction of shaft. the shaft is one amongst the essential parts for the effective and precise operating of the combustion engine with the advanced geometry; that converts the reciprocatory displacement of the piston to a movement. Here a radical study is created for four-stroke gasoline engine crankshaft for a choice of best appropriate material. The planning of shaft is created as per the calculated specification by victimization Solid edge V19 code. This model is born-again to Initial Graphic Exchange Specification (IGES). Finite part analysis (FEA) is performed in ANSYS code to get the variation of stress magnitude at crucial locations of the shaft by applying boundary conditions because the sides mounted and pressure spectrum is applied within the middle of the crankpin. Then, the Static simulation should be conducted on the shaft with 3 totally different materials steel, 4340 steel and 300M VAC-ARC steel that square measure utilized in our project work. Analysis results square measure compared with the theoretical results of von-misses that limit to validate the model.
