Converters’ Topologies & Experimental Characteristics of Roof-top Solar PV System: A Comparative Analysis

Arun Kumar Maurya, Hera Khan

Abstract

Grid Connected Solar PV (GCSPV) systems are being increasingly used to meet the energy gap between demand and supply around the globe. In this paper, the performance analysis, modeling & simulation of 40kWp GCSPV system have been carried out. The SPV system is installed at Ghaziabad (latitude and longitude of this location are 28.66° N & 77.44° E respectively) in National Capital Region, India. The total yield generated by the system is fed into the grid. The total energy generated during this period from March - 2017 to April - 2018 is found to be 4.15 MWh and the PV module performance parameter, converter efficiency and performance ratio are found to be 13.48 %, 92.99 % and 0.79 respectively. Different types of DC/DC topologies have been considered to get optimum performance of GCSPV system in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. After obtaining result, the comparative analysis of BOOST, SEPEIC and CUK converters connected to experimental set up installed on roof-top GCSPV system have shown in this paper. From this observation, we may specify and rightly choose the DC/DC power converters kind to be introduced for our specified SPV system within the production improvement method of it. This paper supposed to emphasize on convertor topologies and also a quick introduction of MPPT algorithms.
