Exploring Profitability in Feed-in Tariff and Net-Metering Using Different Sizes of Roof Top PV Plants and Radiation Datasets

Gargi Maheshwari, Tushar Agarwal

Abstract

As the world tries to control climate change with reduction in CO2 emission, the demand for green renewable power increases on a steady rate. Solar and wind power are the two leading power sectors in renewable energy.  This review paper will try to analyze the various measures that can be taken to maximize solar power production capacities. These measures not only include financial support but also other benefits such as easy approval process, land allocations, buy back assurance and attractive tariff schemes etc. We can then compare such schemes with respect to their profitability to evaluate the commercial as well as domestic success and also explore other potential possibilities which may help the nation in achieving its goals with respect to solar power.

Keywords: Feed-in tariff (FiT), net-metering (NM), photovoltaic (PV), return of investment (ROI), levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), power distribution company (DISCOM), ministry of new and renewable power (MNRE)
