

Detecting the Influence of Traffic Safety Culture on Establishing Sustainable Roadway Transportation System
Abstract
The continuous decline of safety through the roadway transportation system is currently considered as a vital issue and impairs reaching a sustainable transportation of people. The implication of a proper traffic safety culture was considered recently important in the field of sustainable management of traffic flow rather than the improvement in roadway infrastructure, or vehicle design which may exhibit a positive outcome. The initiation of the culture for traffic safety in the education system is affected by country’s cultural values and norms, while it exhibits different outcomes related to safety regardless of similarity of other factors. In the present study, the Baghdad CBD area driver’s population of various levels of education and age groups was assessed using a comprehensive field survey. A detailed questionnaire was prepared to conduct such an assessment. The total number of participated male drivers in the assessment is 1052. The assessment was conducted during 2019 to 2020 before the pandemic of corona. The data obtained was concerned with the involvement of each derivers age group in accidents by traffic and the traffic education level of the drivers.
