CANTEEN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Abstract
In today’s rapidly evolving digital era, automation and user-centric design are essential in enhancing operational efficiency and service delivery, especially within educational institutions. One such domain that often faces overlooked inefficiencies is the college canteen. Traditional food ordering methods are typically manual, resulting in long queues, order inaccuracies, communication gaps, and reduced overall user satisfaction.
This paper introduces a Canteen Management System (CMS) — a responsive, web-based solution developed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The system is designed to streamline the food ordering process by providing a digital interface where users can browse categorized menus (Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks), select food items along with desired quantities, and receive a dynamically generated QR code for order confirmation. The QR code serves as a unique transaction reference, minimizing errors during food delivery and expediting the order pickup process.
The CMS enhances the efficiency of canteen operations by reducing human intervention, improving order accuracy, and decreasing service time. Moreover, the system provides an intuitive, mobile-friendly experience, ensuring accessibility for all students regardless of the device used.
The project also lays the foundation for scalable features including database integration, digital payments, administrative dashboards, and real-time order tracking. By addressing the fundamental challenges of traditional canteen management systems, this solution contributes to the digital transformation of campus services, fostering a smarter and more efficient educational ecosystem.References
