Real-Time Face Detection using Webcam Based on Haar Cascade Classifier
Abstract
Right off, recognizing faces in real time has be- come central to things such as surveillance systems, identity verification, user-driven device operation, along with hands- free attendance tracking. Here’s one approach: it runs swiftly on video captured live, relying on a Haar Cascade system driven by OpenCV. Before anything else happens, frames switch from color into grayscale — trimming down workload early. Once converted, familiar templates start detecting head shapes across every incoming image slice. Neat outlines pop up nearby, each tagged clearly along with a count of duplicates seen together. As the feed keeps moving, spotting never stops — working quickly even on basic machines, making it fit right into schools or compact workspaces. Brightness that stays constant brings dependable outcomes, reacting nearly without delay. Yet whenever light wavers or shade moves across, accuracy takes a visible step down. When faces are tilted or only partially visible, accuracy drops. Over time, improvements might rely on neural networks to gradually enhance consistency and rightness instead.
