Formulation And Evaluation of Herbal Cream for Eczema Treatment

Abstract

Eczema is another name for atopic dermatitis, a long-term inflammatory skin condition. The development of herbal cream that can lessen eczema symptoms like swelling, inflammation, pain, and skin layer redness is the goal of eczema cream formulation and evaluation. The creation of emollient-based creams with active substances recognized for their anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, soothing and skin-saving qualities is the main focus of this study,The carefully selected herbs include turmeric ,neemt, and lavender.

The cream was prepared by the oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion method, incorporating coconut oil ,lavender oil and beeswax as the oil phase, and an aqueous phase containing distilled water and methlyparaben. Lavender oil has calming and restorative effects, and neem and turmeric extracts were added for their antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities. To preserve its active ingredients, methylparaben was made using the infusion process.The prepared cream was deemed appropriate for topical administration after being assessed for factors like pH, appearance, spreadability, and stability. The mixture is a viable natural alternative for managing eczema because of the herbal constituents' synergistic impact, which reduces inflammation, irritation, and microbial development.
