Review on Reduction of Flexural Capacity of Reinforced Concrete Members due to Corrosion

Abstract


Reinforced concrete beams are ordinarily designed as under reinforced to give ductile actions alike as the tensile moment of resistance. In coastal climate, reinforcement corrosion is an observable cause of deterioration of concrete structures, which impacts the durability and service life of stiffened concrete structure. Flexural strength is a means of the tensile strength of concrete, in former expressions it's a measure of a resistance towards failure in bending. Corrosion of reinforcing metal bars in concrete members is an electrochemical response between the steel and its enclosing atmosphere that minimizes the bond between steel and concrete. The predominant objective of this study is the strength decrement and steel mass decrement of corroded samples of respective review papers.
