Strength and Durability Study On Ternary Blended Self-Compacting Concrete

Jyothika Nair LJ, Hari Priya. S.

Abstract

Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) is an innovative approach of generating concrete that neither required vibration nor compaction for placing. This technique is also referred as or self- levelling concrete or self-consolidating concrete or non-vibrating concrete or highly-flowable concrete or super-workable concrete. In situations where mechanical compaction of fresh concrete is challenging, such as cast-in-situ pile foundations, underwater concreting, columns or walls with crowded reinforcing, and machine bases, SCC may be a superior option. Self-Compacting Concrete allows the construction of more slender building elements and more complicated shapes. The project aims to study ternary blended self-compacting concrete using alccofine and fly ash. Optimisation of different percentage of alccofine ranging from 0 % to 15% of cement content with a constant fly ash percentage is studied. Studies on the endurance of ternary mixed self-compacting concrete as well as its fresh and hardened properties were done. There is a positive effect on fresh, hardened and durability properties as addition of alccofine and fly ash increases to a certain limit.
