Assessing the mechanical properties of normal strength recycled aggregate concrete

Barisua Ebenezer Ngekpe, James Ebi

Abstract

To create the most cost-effective solution, investigate the effects of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) on the mechanical qualities of structural concrete, and lessen the environmental impact on society. Thus, the goal of this project is to examine the slump, density, compressive strength, flexural strength, and tensile strength of recycled concrete aggregate in order to determine its hardness qualities. In order to compare the use of natural aggregate with cement in concrete and the possibility of utilizing 100% recycled concrete aggregate (20 mm), laboratory trials were carried out. Due to the significant water absorption of recycled aggregate (RCA), the workability of the concrete was found to be approximately 25% lower than that of granite concrete.
