Efficient Material Resources Management

Baji Mohammed Rehan, Mayank Gupta

Abstract

Efficient Material Resource Management is very essentially required for the completion of the project within the given time and cost as planned during the planning stage. If Material Management not done properly, The Project often gets delayed beyond the handover date. During such Condition, as the Project Completion Period gets stretched beyond the Planning Period, it gets subjected to Material Inflation Cost hence the Project becomes Costly. As a result, many of the Investors start leaving the Project in between and hence the Project remains uncompleted till the end. To avoid this type of Situations, Efficient Material Resources Management has become very much crucial. This study shows how efficient Material Resources Management is done on project Site by Proper Planning of Specifications of Material and Quantity Calculation of Material in the Preconstruction Stage and by Execution Monitoring as per the Project Planning , Raising the Indent or Requirement of the Material in Proper Optimum Pretime or lead time before the Actual Consumption, Material Checking on the Arrival of the Material on the Site as per the Planned Material Specifications, Stock Monitoring, Effective Consumption, Proper Billing Record of the Consumption, Waste Management during the Ongoing Construction Stage and Proper Reconciliation at the Post Construction Stage. This study shows how efficient Material Resources Management helps Construction related people to achieve their Targets in completing the Project successfully within given time. To support this Result, A Case Study of a Construction Site of a G + 3 storey Residential Building is taken and resources utilized for the construction of this project are taken to prove this study.
