ROLE OF HDM-4 IN PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT

Shrikant M. Harle

Abstract

The HDM-4 is a software package and related documentation that will serve as the main tool for analyzing, planning, managing and evaluating road maintenance, enhancements and enhancements. The Highway Development and Control-4 (HDM-4) tool has been widely used to drive roads around the world. This tool has built-in pavement prediction models, vehicle model models and economic analysis tools. These models should be calibrated so that forecasts made by calibrated HDM-4 models reflect specific local conditions. An international study was conducted to broaden the scope of the World Bank's HDM-III implementation and provide a harmonized, system-wide approach to managing roads with adaptive and user-friendly software tools. This led to the development of a new complex of Highway Development and Management Tools, collectively referred to as HDM-4. The work describes the HDM-4 software, designed to provide the following components in the highway management process: strategic planning, work programming, and project preparation.
