Green Concrete Utilizing Copper Slag, Quarry Dust and Fine Aggregate Substitutes: A Comprehensive Review

Naveen Sharma, Harsh Rathore

Abstract

This research provides an in-depth review of the utilization of waste materials, such as Copper Slag (CS), Quarry Dust (QD), and other fine aggregate substitutes, in the production of environmentally friendly concrete, often referred to as green concrete. Concrete is a versatile and widely used construction material, but its production has significant environmental and economic impacts. The incorporation of waste materials into concrete not only reduces waste disposal challenges but also enhances the properties of the resulting concrete. The work examines the extensive research conducted on the use of CS as a cement substitute and QD as a sand substitute in concrete. It discusses the impact of these materials on concrete properties, including workability, compressive strength, durability, and cost analysis. Additionally, it explores the potential benefits of combining CS and QD in concrete mixtures to address waste accumulation issues, reduce construction costs, and promote sustainability in the construction industry
