SECURED AREA FIRE DETECTION SYSTEM USING INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT) APPROACH
Abstract
This work describes the design and construction of an Internet of Things (IoT) based fire detection system in a secured area. One of the major issues, security and seclude areas must deal with is the aspect of fire outage which occurs mostly in our homes, schools, offices, factories, and others. With the introduction of the Internet of Things based fire detection/notification system, such risks can be controlled, by minimizing the damage caused by fire outbreak. However, fire station response to the situation is rather late to notify owner or people around the scene but sensors would trigger early alarm system, notifying the user of an intending fire outbreak via IoT notification, thereby prompting a quick response of the situation on ground. The alert message sent to the user via SMS, mobile call via GSM module. When the system detects a temperature of about 40⁰C, it immediately displays an alert to the user(s) upon the high raise temperature. Results from the test are documented and discussed. Furthermore, the system would improve safety standards in responding to fire accidents. This will eventually allow the user(s) to protect their lives and their properties as well from the disaster.
