A Concise Review of Tinospora Cordifolia
Abstract
Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) is a well-known Ayurvedic medicinal plant valued for its wide therapeutic applications and long-standing mention in classical literature. It is a perennial climbing shrub commonly found throughout India and is rich in bioactive constituents such as alkaloids, glycosides, diterpenoid lactones, phenolic compounds, steroids, and polysaccharides. These phytochemicals impart multiple pharmacological actions including immunomodulatory, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, antidiabetic, antipyretic, antimalarial, and anticancer activities. Guduchi is traditionally used in managing infections, metabolic and liver disorders, inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, stress-related ailments, and as supportive care in cancer therapy. Its proven safety and efficacy make it a promising candidate for integration into modern healthcare systems.
