Abstract

This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the sandy clay soil stabilized using Waste Paper Sludge Ash (WPSA) and Cement. The slightly sandy CLAY of medium plasticity of clay soil sample has been used in this study. The first objective of this study is to determine the optimum concentration percentage of WPSA and cement as additives based on the compressive strength and next, is to determine the strength development of clay soil stabilized with optimum percentage of WPSA and cement as well as to determine the CBR value of clay stabilized with the optimum percentage of WPSA and cement. Result shows that the optimum concentration of WPSA and cement to stabilize the sandy clay soil at about 10% and 5% respectively to give the maximum compressive strength of 177kN/m2 from 155kN/m2.
