Abstract

Concrete is a very strong and versatile mouldable construction material. It consists of cement, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate mixed with water. Nowadays production of concrete is more, scarcity will occur to the continuous usage of fine and coarse aggregate and will also affect the environment. To reduce wastage and for effective use we have moved on to an ecofriendly material. The study investigated by the cast iron slag is replaced for fine aggregate and cupola slag is replaced for coarse aggregate in the production concrete for external use. The study utilized in slag-aggregates replacement percentages of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% by weight of fine aggregate and coarse aggregate, strength parameters are compared to the conventional concrete. Concrete were casted according to the proportions of M25 grade concrete. The test is conducted on concrete examines namely slump test, compaction factor test and then mechanical properties of concrete such as compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength were estimated and various Non-destructive tests. The study concluded that the cast iron slag and cupola slag can be used in as an improver to concrete mixture till up to 20%. The casted specimens are tested after 7 days; 14 days and 28 days for evaluated the strength of the slag concrete. This project is done for reducing the cost of the construction and also reducing environment pollution effect due to replacement of cast iron slag and cupola slag.
