

A Research on stability and strength of soil using plastic waste material
Abstract
This project work concerned with the stabilization of medium sandy soil &clay and plastic waste as admixture. As the medium sandy soil &clay has very low bearing capacity and compressive strength along with nil cohesion, thus the construction of any structure on such type of soil required stabilization. sandy soil &clay is of prime importance since it can be used for various construction works and highways, airfields and helipads projects. Every year, the quantity of waste grows, and disposal is becoming a major issue. This investigation deals with the stabilization of medium sandy soil &clay and plastic waste as additive. Present project work has been taken up by addition of4.75 mmsieve passed and2.0 mmsieve retained Square Pieces of plastic waste 0%, 2%, 4% and 6% having size 3mm respectively as admixture. The varying percentage 9%, 13.5%, 18% and 22.5% of plastic waste 0%, 2%, 4% and 6% respectively were mixed with medium of density 1.95gm/cc.CBRTest, Direct Shear test, MDD andOMC, Specific Gravity and Liquid & plastic Limit Tests were performed on different mix compositions. According to the results of the research, stabilizing the medium using plastic trash as an additive enhances the medium's strength properties and boosts the soil's overall performance, making it suitable for construction.
