The Maverick Mind: A Tale of Independent Inquiry

Abstract


This study investigates the experiences and challenges faced by independent researchers operating outside traditional academic institutions. Through qualitative interviews and literature review, it explores the motivations driving individuals to pursue independent research, as well as the resources, networks, and funding mechanisms they utilize. Findings reveal a diverse landscape characterized by autonomy, innovation, and resourcefulness, but also by obstacles such as limited access to funding and institutional support. Despite these challenges, independent researchers demonstrate resilience and creativity in advancing knowledge and contributing to scholarly discourse. This research sheds light on the unique dynamics of independent research and its implications for academia and society.
