A Proposed Algorithm for Need based AI Systems

Sukhjeet Singh, Sandeep Kaur

Abstract

During the industrial revolution, machines replaced man in labor-intensive areas such as cloth mills, paper mills, mining, etc. Machines were built to simplify labor-intensive tasks by creating a machine to do the difficult part. Today, in order to streamline these tasks, we need “intelligent” machines intelligent that have the ability to make complex decisions by themselves, without any human guidance. These machines need not be a fully functional human-like robot, but only intelligent enough to make intelligent decisions around specific needs. This is where Need-based AI comes into the picture. Need-based AI, in its simplest form, is action selection based on attempting to fulfill a set of mutually competing needs. This paper deals with the design of a need-based AI system. An example of a need-based AI system, whose need is to paint a picture in a given time, is used for the demonstration of the proposed development process. Other examples include driving a car, computer games
