Advanced Tricycle Design and Analysis for the Operations of Rural Commodities

Amrita Ray

Abstract

Transportation has long been a significant challenge in rural areas, particularly due to the limited economic viability of using heavy vehicles for short-distance travel. For daily wage workers in rural areas, affording large transport vehicles such as trucks or vans is often impractical. This study addresses these challenges by designing a freight tricycle with an optimized trolley system to facilitate the easy transport of goods in rural environments. The conceptual design of this tricycle model is based on a manually operated tricycle, with modifications made to its chassis and trolley system. These modifications aim to reduce human effort and improve manufacturability. The design is user-friendly, allowing both men and women to operate the tricycle easily. Structural and design analyses of the tricycle are performed using Siemens NX 10 software and ANSYS Workbench to ensure durability and functionality.
