Abstract

Background: Molar pregnancy is an uncommon type of gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) is defined by aberrant trophoblastic growth and villous edema. It was categorized as complete and partial moles, with differing clinical manifestations. Timely diagnosis and management are crucial to prevent complications such as persistent GTD or choriocarcinoma.

Case Discussion: We explained about a 20-year-old female who presented symptoms of abdominal pain associated with lower extremities numbness for 2 weeks, along with on & off fever with chills. Ultrasonography revealed Single gestational sac in the endometrial cavity of gestation-7 weeks 5 days with partial mole. Serum β-hCG levels were marked at 48,150 µIU/L, which was considered as normal. The patient had histopathological examination which confirmed the diagnosis later underwent Dilatation and curettage procedure. Post-procedure, β-hCG levels were monitored weekly until normalization. The patient recovered without complications and successfully conceived.

Conclusion: Molar pregnancy, though rare, requires high clinical suspicion for diagnosis. Early management and follow-up are critical to achieving full remission and preventing the development to malignant GTD. The present case demonstrates the value of multidisciplinary treatment and patient education in treating molar pregnancies.
