SIX SIGMA APPROACHES USED IN IMPLEMENTING IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT: A REVIEW

Piyush Kumar Pareek

Abstract

The paper brings an insight on the approaches being implemented in the supply chain using Lean Six Sigma (LSS). The LSS are the quality control methods which are used for improving efficiency and the quality of production and also in the distributions that are being carried out by the supply chains. The LSS removes the unwanted processes and the defects, which can have positive impact on the enterprise’s production hence reducing the costs and limiting the resources’ wastage.  There are also two automation techniques being used which helped in ideal process flow and reducing defects and wastages one such being Industry 4.0 that refers to the automating the industries that exchanges information between supply chain and the logistics. Another being Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) which connects the cloud storage that are dedicated to the data storage for retrieving enterprise information anywhere across the globe. The paper also gives similarity and differences between Six Sigma and LSS and also various applications of Six Sigma in Supply Chain Management. This paper gives about an insight on automated approach such as MIDAS which is used in Supply Chain Management.
