BAGGASSE AS A BRICK MATERIAL: A REVIEW

Kasim Rasheed, Muddsir Nazar, Mr Deepak Yadav

Abstract

The search for sustainable construction materials has led to an increasing interest in agro-industrial by-products, with bagasse, the fibrous residue from sugarcane processing, emerging as a potential material for construction. This review examines the use of bagasse in brick production, assessing its properties, benefits, challenges, and potential applications. The paper highlights recent studies, experimental methods, and innovations in utilizing bagasse as a composite material for bricks, considering its environmental impact, mechanical properties, and cost-effectiveness. The goal is to evaluate whether bagasse-based bricks can provide a viable alternative to conventional clay and cement bricks, contributing to both waste valorization and sustainable building practices.
