Technical Study on Power Quality Issues and Their Mitigation Techniques

S. Baskaran, D. Lakshmi

Abstract

The increased use of non-linear loads leads to the power quality problems. This paper is to present a technical study of power quality problems during the use of renewable sources of energy and how to overcome it by using custom power devices like STATCOM. The issues due to the integration of photovoltaic and the wind energy and how to overcome them are discussed in this paper. The power electronic devices do not play an important role in maintaining the efficiency. The classification of various power quality issues is explained.
