A Review on Electrical Earthing and Safety

Manish Bhati, Harish Dadhich

Abstract

The paper envisages that the design optimizations robust earthing of an electrical system at which the electrical potential should be maintained really zero value for the safe and secure purposes. The pertinent design characteristic ensures not only safety of a system but also limit the fault current and zero potential that of the earth. It provides also electrical return path of the fault current and reduces the insulation level of the systems by virtue of which it will be cost effective in accordance with electrical standards and integral part of the power systems. It enables to carry zero sequence current and defends against the neutral oscillation of the star connected system.
