Static and Dynamic Analysis of Composite Plate with Openings

Parvathy Sreekumar, Hari Priya. S

Abstract

Plates are flat structural components with a thinner thickness than other dimensions. A composite material is a combination of two or more materials that performs better when used together than when used separately. Great strength and stiffness, low density, light weight, cheap transportation costs due to weight, high durability, corrosion resistance, etc. are a few benefits of composite materials. Laminated plates, which are formed of layers of different materials, are composite plates. The basic component of a laminated plate is called a ply or lamina, and it is comprised of fibres that have been installed in a matrix. Fibers serve as the primary load-bearing elements, and the matrix maintains the fibres' alignment. Each lamina's fibre orientation can be adjusted to create the required strength and stiffness. In the aerospace, maritime, and other industries, composite plates are frequently utilised. In order to reduce weight, improve ventilation, and provide access to other areas of the structure, cutouts are required. The effect of geometrical characteristics on composite plates with circular opening is the main focus of the current work. The findings of static and dynamic analyses were compared in order to determine the best composite material, layup order, and layout of openings
