Estimation, Quantity Survey, Bill of Quantities and Bar Bending Schedule of Residential Building

Rahul Meena, Bikram Prasad

Abstract

This project focuses on the estimation, quantity survey, bill of quantities, and bar bending schedule for a residential building measuring 1200 sqft. The project encompasses various aspects of civil engineering, including structural design, material estimation, and construction planning. The first phase involved creating a detailed plan of the building, including foundation cross-section, ground beam plan, ground floor plan, slab beam plan, and first floor plan. These plans were meticulously designed using AutoCAD software, ensuring accurate measurements and structural integrity. The next phase involved estimating the quantities of materials required for construction. This was done by calculating the quantities of bricks, cement, sand, aggregate, and steel bars needed for the building. The total estimated cost of the project was approximately 23 lacs. Following the estimation, a bill of quantities was prepared, listing the quantities of each material required along with their respective rates. This bill serves as a comprehensive document for the procurement of materials and the execution of the project. Lastly, a bar bending schedule was prepared for every component of the building, including footing, column, beam, and slab. This schedule detailed the dimensions and placement of steel bars, ensuring the structural stability of the building. Overall, this project demonstrates the meticulous planning and attention to detail required in civil engineering projects, highlighting the importance of accurate estimation, quantity survey, and construction planning in ensuring the successful completion of a residential building.
