Evaluation and Assessment of Groundwater quality for Sustainable Irrigation in Kangayam Taluk, Tirupur District, Tamil Nadu

Dr. D. Sakthivel

Abstract

The Hydrogeochemical research work was done throughout the Kangayam Taluk, Tirupur District of Southern India. Totally, 78 groundwater samples were collected using equal interval in the region during December 2016. The groundwater has been classified mainly by using the criteria of GIBBS schemes, USSL, Wilcox’s and Doneen’s. Our research has come out with the results, our come results, such as the chef mechanism controlling the chemistry of groundwater of this region is the chemistry of rock type and Evaporation Crystallization Dominance. 70% of the groundwater samples fall in C2S1 and C3S1 classes of USSL diagram and 69% percentage of the groundwater samples under Excellent to good and Good to permissible category of Wilcox’s diagram and are good for irrigation. The study Concluded that study more than 95% of the study area soil is 75% to 100% permit to the ground, therefore that area type is unconfined aquifer.
