Current Energy Profile of Bangladesh: An Approach to Zero Carbon Emission through Renewable Energy Policy

Md. Abdus Shabur

Abstract

The present global energy trouble coupled with the environmental consequences of unsustainable energy sources, has compelled the transition towards sustainable and renewable energy sources. It is imperative for Bangladesh to put utmost importance to the development of a comprehensive and sustainable renewable energy policy and regulatory framework, considering its dependence on limited fossil fuel supplies and susceptibility to the consequences of climate change. The necessity is of utmost importance in order to accomplish the lofty objectives of attaining zero net carbon emissions and guaranteeing the sustainable viability of the nation's energy industry. This research shows how national and regional strategies have helped Bangladesh overcome obstacles on its path to renewable energy. This study provides a significant contribution to the academic discourse surrounding national and inter-governmental policies pertaining to green energy. The study centers its attention on the geographical area including the Bay of Bengal and offers suggestions for augmenting the adaptability of technologies and new ideas. Moreover, this underscores the potential and qualities of Bangladesh, a country that enjoys the distinction of being one of the initial members of BIMSTEC collaboration.
