

INTEGRATING PLASTIC WASTE INTO CONCRETE FOR SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION-A LITERATURE REVIEW
Abstract
In recent years, the construction industry has experienced rapid growth worldwide, with concrete remaining the primary material for building structures. This surge in demand for concrete is leading to the rapid depletion of natural resources. Concurrently, the safe disposal of waste plastic has become an increasingly pressing environmental issue. To tackle the dual challenges of resource scarcity and plastic waste disposal, exploring the incorporation of plastic waste into concrete is a promising avenue. This article examines the use of various forms of plastic waste as construction materials, reviewing over thirty studies conducted between 2015 and 2023. The primary focus will be on the effects of partially replacing concrete with waste plastic on its various properties. Nevertheless, the materials continue to meet the criteria for building materials.
