Abstract

Solar energy is increasingly crucial as a renewable resource. By implementing solar tracking and panel cleaning, we can enhance energy generation by ensuring that solar panels maintain an optimal angle relative to the sun's rays. This project discusses the design and construction of a prototype for solar panel cleaning system.

The control circuit is based on an Arduino nano board. DC motor-based cleaning mechanism is implemented here. DC motors are low cost and provides better result while operating in low speed & able to maintain their torque. The solar panel is positioned where it is able to receive maximum light. Cleaning system was programmed to detect sunlight via the LDR sensor & panel dust using dust sensor. If the panel current is less than expected value during day time, system will automatically start to clean the panel with the help of water spray and DC motor.
