Electric Cycles as a Sustainable Alternative to Traditional Transportation: A Case Study Approach

Biswajit Mallick

Abstract

As urban centers face increasing challenges such as traffic congestion, air pollution, and the need for sustainable transportation options, electric bicycles are gaining traction as an efficient and eco-friendly solution. This word is centered around the design, development, fabrication, and testing of a high-performance electric bicycle, aimed at providing a zero-emission alternative for daily commuting. The e-bike integrates a powerful, energy-efficient motor, an advanced battery management system (BMS) for enhanced safety, and an ergonomic design to ensure user comfort and ease of use. The primary goals of the project include maximizing battery longevity, optimizing motor efficiency, and finding a balance between high performance and affordability to ensure accessibility for a wider audience. The development process involved in-depth research, thoughtful component selection, and the integration of safety features. Engineering challenges such as weight distribution, motor overheating, and battery optimization were addressed through innovative design solutions and extensive testing. After rigorous evaluation in various conditions, the e-bike demonstrated durability, safety, and high performance. Ultimately, this project presents a practical, sustainable model for urban commuting, promoting eco-friendly transportation and contributing to the broader adoption of green mobility solutions in cities.
