Abstract

This paper presents an IOT-based safety system designed to enhance the protection of electrical linemen during maintenance operations. The core of the system is the ESP8266 microcontroller, which integrates and controls various components to ensure real-time monitoring and response. A voltage detection sensor continuously monitors the presence of live voltage on the line, while an infrared (IR) sensor detects the presence of a lineman. If the system identifies a hazardous condition such as a lineman being detected while voltage is present it triggers a red LED and buzzer to alert the worker and automatically activates a relay to disconnect the power supply. An LCD (16×2) display is used to provide real-time status updates, and the system is connected to the Blynk IOT platform for remote monitoring and alerts. The entire setup is powered by a main power supply, with a battery backup to ensure uninterrupted operation. This system significantly improves safety during electrical maintenance by providing automated, intelligent control and alerts.
