Energy Efficient Glazing Technologies and Life Cycle Costs

Abhishek V R

Abstract

Office Buildings in Hot & dry climate suffer from high temperature due to high solar radiation. The result of smart glazing on dipping energy feasting on office buildings is well studied. This paper aims at studying life cycle cost of a specific energy efficient glazing system to give a better overview on economic basis. Electro Chromic glazing is selected foe this research. And simulation of an office building in Ahmedabad is carried out. Equest is used as a simulation tool to study the life cycle cost of the electrochromic glass. The simulation results showed that electro chromic glass has a better life cycle cost comparing the conventional glazing systems.
