CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL PROCUREMENT THROUGH LOGISTICS INTEGRATION

Abstract


The timely and effective procurement of construction materials is essential to the success of the project. This study explores the integration of procurement and logistics activities inside construction projects to improve project results, lower costs, and efficiently address issues in material procurement at all construction stages. Examining the complex relationships between procurement, logistics, and construction is the main goal, with a focus on important components like cement, glass, and flooring. By using theoretical understanding, reviewing relevant research, and analyzing actual case studies, Crucial elements of logistics strategy related to the acquisition of materials were highlighted.

The study particularly explores important facets of logistics strategy, identifying key materials including cement, glass, and flooring as well as the difficulties in obtaining them. The proposed structured mitigation strategies are designed to optimize material acquisition and minimize costs by integrating procurement and logistics procedures.

The study evaluates the effect of logistics integration on procurement costs by assessing transportation costs for material delivery from two warehouses at different distances. The findings demonstrate significant cost savings that can be attained by using effective logistics strategies.

This dissertation provides important insights to the area by providing a thorough grasp of construction material procurement through logistics integration. These insights can be applied by construction industry practitioners to improve project outcomes, streamline procurement procedures, and cut costs.
