Immunological Assessment of Health Care Workers in Ekpoma, Edo State
Abstract
The immunological parameters of healthcare workers in Ekpoma generally align with expected reference ranges, reflecting a balance between occupational exposure and health maintenance. The aim of this study was to determine the Immunological Parameters/Cells Health care workers in Ekpoma. A total of Thirty (30) apparently healthy health care workers comprising of both sexes and belonging to the age ranges of 19 years and above years were recruited for this study. The Immunological parameters were analyzed using Sysmex KX-21N haematological autoanalyzer. The results reveals the reference range of 4.61 - 4.95 for RBS, lymphocytes of 43.00 - 50.40, PCV of 36.90 -38.90, WBC of 4.10-5.40 among health care workers, also, no significant variation for among genders and ages differences immunological parameters for health care workers, among RBC, HGB,MID,PLT but no significance difference for Lymphocytes, WBC and Granulocytes in relation to body mass index . This finding highlights the importance of workplace health interventions in standardizing immune health outcomes. Future studies could explore larger and more diverse populations to assess whether these trends persist in broader contexts.
