Behavior of EDCA Under Light and Heavy Data Sources

P. Bibitha

Abstract

Real time traffic always gives the higher priority than the data traffic in WLAN. EDCA behavior analyzes the performance of saturated and unsaturated sources of IEEE 802.11e Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA). In this analyzing method used for priority based data transfer in WLAN. In this scheme, the quality of service (QoS) support is helpful for four access categories (ACs) in each station. Each station behaves as an independent back-off entity. The priority among the station is then determined by AC-specific parameters, called the EDCA parameter set (CWmin, CWmax and TXOP limit). EDCA performance can be evaluated by using TXOP limit. The metrics used where throughput and access delay. The analytical model is validated via ns-2 simulations.
