Review: Image Processing Based Obstacle Detection with Laser Measurement in Railways

Abstract

In this world people uses different types of transportation way to travel from one place to another place. Mostly they give importance to public transportation for better journey. Railway is major part of India and it is the cheapest way of transportation. When go through the daily newspapers many accidents come across in railway tracks. The train accidents cause damage to life and property. Railway accidents caused by obstacles on the rails. These obstacles are trees, rocks and consist of similar structures etc. There are different methods used to detect obstacles in the railways. The new works carried out to ensure safety in all transports and to decrease train accidents. Developed to increase the safety of railways. The railway has detection of any obstacles on the tracks. The camera and the laser distance meter mounted on the train. It scans the image, the outcomes are obtained and obstacle is identified. Emergency braking system is applied into the circuit to avoid crashing. As an effect, accident rates will get reduced.
