Conceiving Hope: Understanding the Psychological Struggles of Infertility

M. Bharathi, T. Aditya Sai Srinivas

Abstract

Infertility presents a significant mental weight, influencing pressure, wretchedness, uneasiness, and rest problems among impacted people. This systematic review examines the interplay between infertility and mental health, drawing insights from diverse literature sources. Findings reveal elevated stress levels, suicidal tendencies in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF), and the prevalence of eating disorders and substance addiction among infertile individuals. Sleep disturbances further exacerbate reproductive challenges, highlighting the complex relationship between psychological well-being and fertility. Comprehensive support strategies addressing emotional needs alongside medical interventions are crucial for navigating the multifaceted challenges of infertility.
