ANALYSIS OF RESOURCE PRODUCTIVITY IN ALUMINIUM FORMWORK SYSTEM FOR RCC FRAMED STRUCTURE
Abstract
The construction sector is one of the largest contributors to the global economy, but it faces a significant challenge: lower-than-expected productivity at job sites. These productivity variations often lead to project durations extending beyond scheduled timelines, resulting in cost and time overruns.
Upon reviewing past literature from reputable journals, it was discovered that there is no systematic manual for estimating resource productivity. The productivity data from the available manuals, such as DAR 2021, varies across different projects. To establish realistic productivity constants, multiple site visits were conducted. Labor utilization rates, productivity values, and factors affecting productivity were recorded during these visits. The collected data was then analyzed for variations, and a confidence interval formula was applied to arrive at a productivity range.
Critical factors negatively affecting productivity were identified through literature review and case studies. Ways to enhance and improve productivity were identified through case studies with the assistance of project managers and site engineers. These findings were validated by experts and implemented as control groups in case study data to assess significant improvements in productivity using IBM SPSS software.
This research paper concludes that while the impact of all productivity enhancements strategies cannot be calculated mathematically, some strategies can be quantified. Applying these strategies, the productivity of the aluminum formwork system increased from 19.4 SQM/Person/Day to 20.4 SQM/Person/Day.References
