Modern exteriors: Double Skin Architecture
Abstract
A double-skin façade is a modern building system comprising two layers of skin, creating an air cavity that facilitates airflow between them. This cavity can be ventilated using mechanical systems or fans, with airflow adjusted according to climatic conditions and the building's cooling requirements. Typically made of glass, the space between the skins can range from 20 cm to 2 meters and can incorporate solar shading devices for heat management and safety.
