This work was examined and based on several aspects of the corporate governance practice assessed at the State Bank of India with the aid of secondary data.
The financial system in India is one of the best in the world. In the current liberalised economic landscape and national integration, the Indian banking industry cannot undervalue the significance of corporate governance.
The pursuit of high professionalism and moral business ethics that balance the interests of all stakeholders and the community is the core of banks' corporate governance philosophy.
Of all the banks in India, both public and commercial, the State Bank of India is the biggest. In terms of branch locations, it is the second-biggest bank globally. Through its extensive network in India and abroad, the bank offers a range of local, foreign, and NRI products and services. To maximise the value and wealth of its shareholders and to achieve excellence and transparency, State Bank of India must maintain sound corporate governance.
