Abstract

An essential component of a successful root canal treatment (RCT) is the filling of the canals, also known as obturation. Obturation has two objectives: to fill the root canal without adding voids, and to form an apical seal within the filling material. Successful obturation removes leakage of contaminants into the channel namely saliva, bacteria, and periapical tissue fluid, and emtraps any residual microorganisms particularly the canal space.
