Abstract

In the middle of the tooth, directly beneath the dentin layer, is a mass of connective tissue called the pulp. These two tissues are closely connected to one another and rely on one another for growth and survival. They are referred to as the endodontium and the "dentin-pulp" complex.  This article provides information about embryology, structure, function, surgical considerations, and clinical significance.
