Abstract
The most prevalent type of meningitis is viral meningitis, which is defined by aseptic inflammation of the meninges (the membranes around the brain and spinal cord) brought on by a variety of viruses, including enteroviruses and herpesviruses. It is diagnosed by analyzing cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and revealing lymphocytic pleocytosis. Acute fever, headache, and stiff neck are common symptoms. Although the majority of cases are mild and self-limiting, necessitating supportive care, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or other molecular diagnostics are necessary for a clear diagnosis, and prompt examination is essential because of the possibility of overlapping with bacterial meningitis.
